Good times!

I have had a lot of them recently.

This past Thursday I was able to DJ at the Moog party for the Scorpio Party event. It was a great time, great energy on the floor, and I was glad to see some people make it out that night. Even though I locked myself out of the car, it was a memorable evening.

Checked out Deep Sugar last night at the Paradox. I think that I am going to try to get there as often as possible, and just disregard my currently horrible work schedule. I love being able to go somewhere and just being able to dance til 6am (I think we all only made it to 4 am, but we all had been raging since 8 pm basically, so cut me some slack). The Paradox is hands down the best club in Baltimore and you should definitely check out a Deep Sugar event.

My Dad came down today and it was fun. We tore up steamed crabs, shrimp, and he ate a lot of raw oysters (not my thing). We were happy to see the Bengals beat the Steelers.

I really hate the Steelers.

Back on the DJing tip, I am hoping that I will be able to play out at more events, provided that my work schedule does not get in the way. So far I have been lucky to move things around and I think that will continue to be the case. Stay tuned here or on twitter (or facebook) for any future announcements.

New Layout and Shiz

So basically I am trying to come up with a blog that is more pleasing to the eyes than what what I had going on here before. There are a couple of new things I added.

Hopefully you will find that reading my posts are a lot easier than it used to be. I was seriously getting a headache myself.

Over to the right you will now see my twitter feed. I like this thing a lot because I am a hardcore tweeter, and there is an option to follow me.

The thing that I am most excited about is the "Call Me" widget. Basically all that you will need to do is click on the icon and then put in your name and your phone number. When you finish that process, it will ring you phone and if I am available I will pick up and talk to you. Thankfully for me you will not know my number unless I decide to give it to you.

Neglect

That is what I have down to this site. I have gotten so caught up in the twittering and the facebooking that I have forgotten that it is really lame trying to get your point across in a 160 character sound byte. You really don't get a good idea of the things that have been going on with me. Not that I plan on giving up either one anytime soon, but I am going to try and keep up with this site, and try to focus on music.

In terms of DJing things have been going quite well. I have been fortunate enough to play at the Moog parties at Red Maple a few times. The response has been very good, especially since my lastest gig there on September 17th. I was very honored to be given an opportunity to headline and to reach out to a broader crowd. It is a very humbling experience to get a lot of people to dance to what you are playing and to have them let you know how much they enjoyed it. I am hoping to do some more shows in the near future.

Next up on my plate and very much on my mind is trying to figure out how I am going to get down to the Winter Music Conference in Miami in March. It is pretty expensive to get down there and I am honestly stressed out about trying to get the money together for this thing quickly and to get people to go in order to keep the costs down. I wasn't able to go last year, and I have a strong desire to go, but they only thing standing in my way is money. This is probably the same problem for millions of others as well so I do not feel so bad about it. I am hoping for a big break of some kind, or maybe if I can get extra hours at my job I will work and make some serious overtime. We shall see....

I like this moogcast because I usually play tracks that have that funky Chicago jackin sound, but I am also featured on it at some point. I am not going to tell you where because I actually want you to listen to the entire thing. It also features music from Fangs Yeo, a vocalist from Britain who will be in Baltimore this week and I am looking forward to meeting her. It also features a DJ set from Audio Soul Project, who performed at Red Maple last Thursday. Enjoy!

Moogcast

My three days are up....blah

Gotta go back to work tonight for the last round of night shifts for a while. After this however some cool things start coming up very quickly.

First on Tuesday at Towson University I am having a fun gig in the union at Paws. Expect to hear good music and see awesome dancers getting down. This will be occurring (barring any difficulties) from 730 pm to 11 pm. If you are a Towson U student this is a good chance to catch a break from your studying.

March 13th is the gig at Shorty's in Baltimore and then I have a house party on March 14th. More info to come soon regarding those events.

My days off so far were very good and quite memorable. Hanging out with friends and getting my house fix made these days off the best I have had in a while. I also redid my room a bit so it helped me to get some good sleep.

I am going to enjoy the rest of my day. I hope that the next time I post something on here that it will be more interesting.

Yeah I didn't update this yesterday, and I wasn't even drunk. Sometimes I can be a busy man.

Had a ton of fun at Red Maple last night and it was a good party. I am being so sincere when I say that you need to make it out on Thursday nights if you can.

Now I have found a device that will empower women in their lives no matter where they are!

Newegg is an online retailer of consumer electronics, and they always have some awesome deals. I got my Dad a digital camera from there with a carrying case and a huge SD card for under $100. They also have great reviews of the products from people who used them to help you in your purchasing decision. I woke up and in my inbox saw that had a deal on GPS systems. Luckily for them I was in the market for one. I got it for under $100 plus free 2 day shipping. The same exact GPS unit is about $130 everywhere else, not including taxes or shipping.

I would highly recommend this site if you are ever looking for a deal, especially in economic times like this.

Rant (sort of) for February 17th, 2009

I thought that we were all having bad days until I saw this:



Hilarious shit right? Apparently, this woman missed her flight, so she decides to go apeshit and throw a tantrum for about a good three minutes. Luckily for her this was in Hong Kong because if she did that shit in the United States TSA would have killed her after using the taser on her 54 times.

The kicker of this video is that I heard she got so upset because the flight that she missed was heading to San Francisco so she could see her dying sister.

Now you aren't laughing so much anymore.

I am dead tired. I just got back from working my 12 hour shift flying a satellite and I have to do it again before I get my three days off, which I am feeling like I desperately need right now.

Back to music....

I just woke up so I am not PMSing like I was this morning, but I am getting ready to head back to work for another 12 hour shift. Sometimes I don't know ow I do it anymore.

This Thursday there is a an event at Red Maple called Moog. It is a weekly event with some great resident DJs spinning the best of deep house music from 9pm to 2am. I had a great time there last week, and if you are 21+ I am hoping you can make it out to one of the most chill yet unique events Baltimore has to offer.

Next week on February 24th, DJ Blak-Majik and myself will be spinning at a forum at Towson University from 7:30 pm to 11 pm in the University Union at Paws, so all of my Towson friends can catch me there.

March 13th the both of us also will be spinning at Shorty's in downtown Baltimore. We will be up from 10 pm to 12 am. This is for the 21+ crowd, and you should show up because my brother and I will be celebrating out birthdays (we are almost two years apart exactly).

Things are starting to look good in the world of DJing, but I can't do it alone, so please come out if and when you can and support your local DJ.

Rant!

Why is it that people in the Baltimore/DC Metro area drive ridiculusly fast just to get to their job and then when the day is over they take their time going home? I theorize that most people in this area hate their loved one.

Also, is it me or is Christian music really annoying? Whenever I hear it I cringe. Maybe it's because I am agnostic, or it could be that every Christian song is about the same thing and when they sing the song they have to put their hands in the air.

I think I am just cranky; I just finished a 12 hour shift.

Valentine's Day is not for (most of the) lovers.

So I hung out with some friends downtown yesterday since Valentine's Day for me this year is Single's Awareness Day, or SAD for short. Now don't get me wrong I was far from being sad, as I enjoyed a great evening with my friends (females of course). Had a great time talking shit, laughing, and just enjoying bullshitting with each other while getting drunk off of sangria at La Tasca at the Inner Harbor.

I did notice one thing though this year; the people that were actually "coupled" up seemed pretty miserable.

After parking in a garage that was a flat rate of $20 for parking, (which made me decide to stay longer and get drunk for a while longer than I intended to) my brother and I were walking over to La Tasca and you could tell which couples were generally happy to be with each other and which one's were not. I would estimate that it was 70 - 30 in favor of being miserable. Without hearing anything and just looking at their faces it was very apparent what was going on in their minds.

The main people who were not happy were couples with a skinny guy and an obese woman. It was so obvious that the men were cringing having to take their big ass girl out in public and having to hold her hand and his significant other was not happy because she knew this. These same men were also checking out other women who most of society would deem as attractive.

The other couple's who seemed to be unhappy were those that you could tell made big expensive plans for the evening. Mostly from what I heard, it was the male who made the plans and was spending a lot of money for this Hallmark Holiday when they would rather just hang out somewhere and have sex all night long.

My brother was sitting next to this couple at La Tasca that annoyed the shit out of him. Each time he would turn around one person in the couple would talk trash about their "loved one" after the other left to go to the bathroom. He didn't understand why they were together when they obviously hated each other. I told him that the sex was good for him and she was getting her needs taken care of aka he paid for everything all of the time. They were drunk too, so I hope that when they made it home that he didn't Chris Brown the woman that he truly hated so much.

I am sure that there were people out in town that had a great evening with each other, which hopefully ended up with them having great sex when they got home. I just think from what I observed that it was few and far between, and now that I think about it Valentine's Day is more dangerous for people in relationships than it is for single people. I just think that there is a lot of stress involved in planning activities for the one day that you are supposed to show that you love someone, and that the stress and the expense gets to people and that people don't have as good of a time as they should. I just think that people should tell their loved one that they love them everyday and not get caught up in the commercialism of this one day.

Anyways, I hope that you enjoyed yesterday whether or not you are in a relationship.

How fitting is it of me to come back to this page on Valentine's Day of all days?

I wish that I could say that a lot has happened since September but that isn't true. I am still at the same job and still working crazy hours and I still try to have fun when I can. Of course things seem to be on the up since Obama got into office. We still have a recession and the economy sucks balls but I am not referring to that at all.

I think that people want to dance again.

My friend LG (aka DJ Lovegrove) had an interesting theory that he told me about on New Year's Eve. He theorized that when a Democrat is in office as President, the music gets happier, people want to dance and listen to dance music. It makes sense; when President Carter was in office disco was all the rage and with Clinton in the early 90's we had house music at it's peak (as well as blow jobs from thick girls!).

It looks like his theory could be proven to be correct from my standpoint. The reason that I say this is that in partnership with my friend Sean Johnson (aka DJ Blak-Majik) we are in demand. We have some big events coming up that we have been booked for and we are in talks with other venues to provide good music and to get people off the walls and start dancing again. I am so glad that things are looking up in this area because I have been working hard for a year to get to this point.

In other news I checked out an awesome event at Red Maple called Moog, and it's held every Thursday night from 10pm to 2 am. It was a great time, there was great music to be heard and it was a positive vibe all night long. I would definitely recommend that you check it out sometime. They also have a nice blog with podcasts available for download at http://moogme.blogspot.com/. Hopefully we will end up with more events like this in the Baltimore area.

I hope that all of you that are single like me enjoy the day with family and friends (and go dancing!) and for those of you in a relationship don't fall for this scam of a holiday.
